Hi there !

Thats a parking space I like.
Especially for - in relation to American Steel - small European cars.
More than enough space to open your doors without the danger to ruin some other parked vehicle.

That's a feature we need here in Germany, especially if people are not educated enough to take care about other peoples property

greetings !

mr. floppy :D

p.s. : the damn big parking space tells you - this can only be in the states :-)

nope. no quarter mile yet. Speaking of which, the car just got a new 034 Motorsport RS2 Hybrid Replica turbo this past weekend. And when i go home for Thanksgiving (USA, thats the end of November) i will be putting in a custom aluminum SPIC (much bigger than stock, and will handle much more psi).

funny thing is that you are seeing less and less of the big parking spaces in the USA (at least in New York) b/c of the price of land and the crazy property taxes. as far as that spaces goes, well lets just say i lucked out ;)

Big reason we swap in the euro spec headlights is because the US DOT headlights have horrible light output and horrible reflectors they just scatter light everywhere.

But I can't wait to show him my car! I wish I would have had time to arange him bringing another one of his exhausts over.

& the car is one he bought in Philly, USA..he didn't bring one of his cars over with him silly :)

Nice car! I have a collection of 10 Audi 100/200 and one early 5k s turbo Automatic,

Great to see the interest in these cars is international.

Yes, that's what I have been thinking about since I moved to the states a i little while ago. So many germans want the US stuff like taillights or the orange reflectors and I am one of the guys that just changed his DOT lights to the E-code lights, huge difference!! you should not even think about putting american headlights on your european cars, that's like swapping a 20V turbo for a 1.6l 4-cylinder or so ;) but seriuosly, let's get two containers set up, one in germany one in the US and get a little exchange going here!

btw: I am actually deutscher who moved to the US for work, and there's a biiiig quattro scene over here as well! the selbstdoku helped me alot with keeping my 89 200TQ running the last year! thanks you guys, very exited to see international "brotherhood" growing!

Hi Pitten,

thnx for the kind words. :) I'd seriously doubt tho, anyone in Germany will swap single beam headlights. Bad and not allowed and quite obvious, too ... :)

I, for my part, am looking for two things:

#1. U.S. type 44's bumper shock absorbers (front & aft)

#2. The whole front and aft bumper for the old Audi Convertible or Coupé. Ought to be the same as the 4k limo IMHO, in the U.S.

turbaxel: let's be the first example and exchange our bumper stuff ;) you can have all my american 5-mph-long-nose BS and I'll gladly take your old euro bumpers ;) .. i have a front euro bumper laying around but mounting is a little problem i think, need the euro mountings too..anyway, I'm as well looking for coupe quattro bumpers, preferably euro's, type89/B3 that is, was called 80/90/coupe over here as well, a little different which is which but the 4k was the type85 and older..

Pitten,
you will need the Euro mounting plates for sure, as the impact dampers will not fit. Stil i don´t know, if the large 5000 crossmember will fit with Euro bumpers.

For those, who want to have a closer look at the Euro frontbumper...

Bild

Bild

No extra crossmember at all, as it is part of the bumper (made of aluminium). That goes for the front engine mount as well, if you take a look at the U-shaped bracket, mounted on the bumper core.

Cheers,
Olli

and... don´t bump with the Euro bumpers - they´re likely to fail!

Reg. the 5k US bumpers: They might be bulky, but they do have some serious safety advantage towards car and driver. I had a former 100 slightly crashed. Only the plastic bumper shell was damaged.

The other car, a Euro Ford "Sierra" was simply dead.

So, combined with the fact, the original Euro bumper will not fit a Us5k front, the best swap woul be Euro headlighs and markers for US bumper (shocks & 4000 bumpers) parts. :)

Yeah, obviously different.

You´ll need to remove the crosspiece, when going Euro bumpers.

That crosspiece - by the way - is the main reason, why the 5000/200 MC-turbo was never sold with SPIC in the US. The 20V needed a different crosspiece in order to make room for the IC intake.

Cheers,
Olli

yes. that is the reason when we do the SPIC swap from a 20vt to a 10vt we use the 20vt cross member. or we keep the 10vt cross member and just make a cut where the cross over pipe comes down.
