Yep I cut it. What you cannot see because I don't have pics of it is that after cutting I rewelded a piece of metal to go around the IC outlet that reconnects the metal and reinforces that area.mAARk hat geschrieben:Hi Steve,
If I understand correctly from your picture, you cut the square profile out of the front cross-valence (Querträger) to fit the lower connection of the intercooler?

I would expect that such a cut would drastically reduce the stability of the whole front section of the chassis?
And even though you have fitted the strut brace (Domstrebe), what would happen in a frontal impact? The cross-valence would collapse like a piece of cardboard... Not so?
Puzzled regards,
Mark

Hi Steve!
A lot of greets to Michigan! From where do you come? It is the skyline from Detroit on the picture? On the other pic there are a lot of german car´s in the background (the highway pic is what I mean)...there is a Corado and a Vento or Golf (?)...is it a german car club?
Greats from Stuttgart

I live in a small town named Holland. It is near the city of Grand Rapids where the pics were taken with the buildings in the background. Holland is near Lake Michigan.
The picture of the cars on the highway were taken while we were on the way to a car show called Motorstadt at the Audi/VW of America headquarters near Detroit, Michigan.
Motorstadt is a car show that is run by a club called MIVE. MIVE stands for Michigan Volkswagen Enthusiasts.

Hi SteveAngry
nice work!
But can you give us some more information due to your Megasquirt EFI?
Some guys here are also interested in EFI modifications to the 10V,
perhaps you could give out your data....and the try and error part for those guys could be shortened
And maybe i try to do my WAES on a Megasquirt system....
kind regards,
daneant

Redid the front and rear brakes also. Figured it was time to throw the bigger 20v rear rotors/calipers on:
Box of assorted brake goodies:

200 20v vented rear rotors vs 10v solid rotors:

Installed with used V8q calipers:

Hi Steve,
what´s that black window trim stuff - is it something specific for our cars or sort of a JC Whitney trim-to-fit thing?
Looks pretty clean and well to me - nice stuff.
The strutbar...
I would either paint it white or leave it "pure".
When i did my first strutbar in black, i soon discovered, that it was getting somewhat lost in the wilderness of the 10VT environment.
So i switched over to a stainless one and left it unpainted, that looks much better IMHO.
So in other words... leave it silver.
The TAP bar - is that made of Aluminium, i asume?
Fits perfect to the rectangular break reservoir of Gen. 1 Type 44 - will probably not fit to later cars with round shape reservoir.
What break rotors do you use at the front - stock 276x25 or something bigger?
Cheers,
Olli

This is nice upgrade! I'll do the same thing to my '88 100tq Avant soon. Have all the parts already. Why didn't You use splash shields?SteveAngry hat geschrieben:Figured it was time to throw the bigger 20v rear rotors/calipers on
Did You leave handbrake cables the same, or does this upgrade need 200 20V cables as well?
The cable thing confuses me a bit. There are at least 3 different sets of cables available for typ44 quattro. They probably differ only by the length...but what is the correct lenght? When I use WIN code the catalogue shows me cables that are ment for solid disk brakes and smaller calipers...

Minor update: I picked these wheels up a couple of years ago with intentions to use them on the 5000 one day.
These Are Zender Challenger wheels 17x7 with a 45mm offset. I was thinking of powdercoating them black...or maybe leaving them silver???

What do you guys think? Hit it or keep the current RS4 wheels?

Headliner is finally done.
I went with some dark chocolate brown headliner material which compliments the carpet and dash colors very well.
I thought about Alcantara or Ultra suede but it seems like everyone's doing that right now.

I'm not sure what to do with the sun visors or sunroof switch panel yet. I'm thinking either leave it as is, spray paint it with vinyl/fabric paint or try to cover it in matching material.
I'm pretty happy on how it came out.
