Hello!
I have a 1989 Audi 100 Avant 2,0E and have replaced the big brown square 4 (or 3)pol sensor that sits under the upper water hose (it controls the temperature meter on the dashbord).
But what I am curious about is the temperature when the fan is starting? The temp meter now goes up to over +100 degrees before the fan starts. I know that the fan is controlled by a blue sensor sitting at the bottom of the radiator but with my old big brown square sensor that controls the temp meter ,the temp showed +90 degrees when the fan started.
At what temperature on the dash board does your fan start?
Water temp meter???

Re: Water temp meter???
Hello Jaka,
my experience is that this aftermarket sensors show the incorrect temperture mostly. I installed a used sensor from a Audi 100 C4 V6 Engine, it's the same part.

Re: Water temp meter???
Hi!
visited a scrap yard and took an Audi original sensor from a Audi A6 1997 and now the temperature meter on the dash board show normal temperature (around 90 degrees)when the cooling fan starts.
I have tried many different aftermarket sensors and all show "wrong" (100 degrees or more)temperature.
