Pictures of this 200 trans am?

does anyone have more pictures of this Audi 200 "Trans Am". Seems to me it is a one off wide body to replicate a trans am car.
I was told the car was on loan at the VW automuseum in 2008.

Audi should have built this as the ultimate 200 model!

With a 10VT of course.

Look at the rear door handles - wow...

Are you now thinking of some wide body conversion to the "Wide Widow", Corey?

As interesting as this car looks I can in no way have any desire to do a conversion of this sort. I would have so many police behind me, my mind would explode.

That sort of body work I will leave to the pros.

Actually, there´s one company here in the motherland preparing a 200TA kit for the AA. No idea, when this will be available, but they´re working on it.

I would have so many police behind me, my mind would explode.

Really?

Haven´t thougth that the US rules are that strict, when having all these custom cars (MOPAR, Hod rods, etc..) on my mind.

Same as here - going to the TUV with this and passing it, will surely require some money, papers and a lot of patience, i assume.

what is the average chance that you will encounter an another 5000 in NY ?

.. i have seen few of them in Detroit (and one with stick

) ... but didnt had the chance to get to NY

edit: DMV/MOT/TUV in CZ? a Piece of crap

... but the best ones are in Poland - almost free of charge (30 Euro) and valid for another two years ... even without having the car there

A hotrod or muscle car differs from a race car. They look close enough to a production car or are modified so little that they are not an issue (they are part of American pop culture). A race has that look where it looks like it is ment for the race track, wider tires, wider fenders, big air ducts, etc.

So a 200 Trans Am or a 90 IMSA is going to raise eyes when it driving on the highway in the USA.

Best example in the USA. NASCAR, yes thats right; if some decided to drive a Sprint Cup stock car on the road they would not get far.

No we do not have as stringent regulations.

think of like sterotypical profiling. For example, person dressed in all black with a black ski mask is a bank robber.

Coz he´s going out for a ride in a 200 TA - what else!

Totally aware of what you´re saying.

Here: drive a 70hp VW Rabbit i.e. with all the usual silly bling bling customising and you´re likely to get police/TUV´s attention next time.

Drive an Audi 44 with chip, N75 mod or whatever you may think of and nobody really cares, because normally noone would expect a Type 44 to be a tuner friendly ride.

Here´s another one...

Last year i got stopped by the police when i ran into their radar trap with my Audi 80.
I was 24km/h to fast (ran alomst 80km/h in 2nd gear) and they gave me a ticket, checked my registration and ID - all the usual stuff.

Now... my Audi 80 has the exhaust mufflers almost completely empty inside with all the sound deadening stuff gone over the years.
Of course, when they stopped me, they noticed the awful loud tailpipe, but they had no idea what to make of it.
One of them looked at the tip but all he saw was a stock tailpipe and muffler - obviously not the sport muffler he was expecting.

With a Rabbit or something like that, i´m sure they would have asked further questions.

yes .. black clothes and black ski mask is the standard drivers clothes for a comfy ride in an Audi 200 ... i was thinking all the time that a tweed jacket, leather gloves, silly 50's hat and a set of eggs on the back is the proper equip to drive such a "grandpamobile"

do not touch "blinkblink_wannabe_FnF_RaceProSuperiorAlmightyKiddoDrivers"! without them we wouldnt have so much fun beating the hell out of them on the intersection and "let them eat dust" in full monty... and of course making them look "stoopid" in front of their blond biiiaaatccheeeees (Snoop Dogg style

I think I was making the compasion where someone wearing a black ski mask in public is sterotyped as a bank robber.

The 200 TA is the ski mask and people assume (in this case the police) the 200 TA is the robber.
